Meet Francesca the pigeon.
At around 6 weeks old, Francesca sustained a nasty injury to her leg and was left bleeding on the busy streets of Melbourne as hundreds of people passed her by.
It wasn’t until one kind stranger saw her and picked her up that she found her way to rescue group, Little Miracles Animal Rescue Inc who took her under their wing…
Francesca’s carer reached out to lots of vet clinics who sadly turned this poor pigeon away. Through networking with Beary Fuzzy Forever Rescue, Francesca was referred to our clinic and Dr Kunal jumped in to help.
Francesca’s leg was badly injured, shattered in multiple places. Her only options were amputation or euthanasia.
So given Francesca had a loving home and someone to care for her ongoing, Dr Kunal and nurse Angella scrubbed into theatre!
Francesca was anesthetised, intubated and prepped for surgery.
Her leg was cleaned and wrapped to avoid contamination of the surgical site.
Surgery was a success!
Francesca woke up without any dramas and went to her new home to be loved forever.
Francesca recently visited Dr Kunal and the team to show off how much she had grown. She is doing great with one leg!
