Bravecto Quantum – Flea & Tick Prevention

a puppy itching

As responsible dog owners, we all want to ensure that our dogs are protected from irritating fleas, bush ticks and life-threatening paralysis ticks. Most products on the market only last for a month, which can mean trying to persuade your dog to swallow a tablet every month for the rest of its life.

It can be a struggle to get dogs to take tablets consistently. Many of us have been there: resorting to crushing their tablets and hiding them in tasty foods only to find your dog has spat part of it out on the ground later.

Frustrating!

Bravecto Quantum Benefits

Bravecto Quantum, a once-yearly injection, avoids this struggle. This injection can be administered to dogs from 6 months of age onwards to provide year-round, convenient flea and tick protection.

When combined with the yearly heartworm protection injection (Proheart) you can have peace of mind knowing that your dog is protected for the year against parasites that have the potential to cause severe, life-threatening illness.

The Dangers of Fleas & Ticks to You and Your Dogs

Of the different types of tick species in Australia, brown dog tick and paralysis ticks are 2 of the most dangerous as they can transmit serious infections, cause paralysis that can be fatal if it affects the respiratory muscles, and can even play a role in transmitting pathogens that threaten human health like Q fever.

They are both known to feed on dogs and thrive in various temperatures, making year-round protection essential. Fleas are the most common external parasite found on dogs and can cause severe itching in both your dog and human family members. Once fleas are established in a household, eliminating them can be challenging.

What is in Bravecto Quantum?

The ingredient in Bravecto Quantum is fluralaner, which has been safely prescribed by vets to protect dogs from fleas from ticks since 2014 as a spot-on formulation on the back of the neck or in chews. It can safely be administered with other commonly used medications and vaccinations.

So, if you want headache-free, year-round flea and tick protection for your dog, book them in for an annual Bravecto Quantum injection and avoid the hassle of monthly tablets.

Cue thank-you licks from your furry friend!

Frequently Asked Questions

Bravecto Quantum is a once-yearly injection conveniently administered by your veterinarian to your dog to provide continuous protection against fleas and ticks.

Bravecto Quantum lasts a whole year with just a single injection.

Ticks already on dogs prior to applying BRAVECTO Quantum will not be killed immediately after injection and should be removed. Treatment for paralysis ticks should still be sought.

BRAVECTO Quantum takes 3 days to exert its full effect for ticks, so it should be applied at least 3 days before the dog is exposed to ticks. If administered at the same time yearly continuous protection will be provided.

A single BRAVECTO Quantum injection will control flea infestations on the dog within 2 days of treatment. From Day 6, newly emerged adult fleas are killed before they lay eggs, for a full year.

BRAVECTO Quantum takes 3 days to exert its full effect for ticks, so it should be applied at least 3 days before the dog is exposed to paralysis ticks. Ticks already on dogs prior to applying BRAVECTO Quantum will not be killed immediately after injection and should be removed. Treatment for paralysis ticks should still be sought.

For paralysis tick control it is also recommended that the product (as with all other tick control products) be used in conjunction with daily searching for, and removal of any ticks found, as the risk of tick paralysis cannot be entirely eliminated. Your veterinarian can give you advice on tick searching and removal techniques.

Bravecto Quantum is suitable for administration to dogs and puppies from six months of age onwards. There are no known contraindications to giving the product to senior dogs and is part of a yearly wellness plan for many senior patients.

Dogs should be at least 6 months old to start Bravecto Quantum. Prior to that Bravecto 1-Month Chews can be used to provide continuous protection against fleas and ticks.

Bravecto Quantum is a yearly injection that must be administered by your veterinarian. It can be given at the same time as visits for vaccinations or heartworm protection injections.

Bravecto Quantum is administered in an injectable form so there are no concerns with showering or washing your pet immediately after administration.

It is honestly difficult to put into words just how genuinely beautiful Dr Daphne and the entire team are, both in heart and in mind.We have had difficulty finding a veterinary clinic that feels calm, polite, warm, welcoming, genuinely … More caring and knowledgeable, but from the moment we arrived, this practice felt completely different. There was such a lovely, peaceful atmosphere, and we never felt rushed, dismissed or treated like just another appointment. The team were incredibly well organised, very reasonably priced and, most importantly, they actively listened to us and took the time to understand the individual needs of our fur kids. With our relocation to Queensland, we needed both of our dogs assessed and given their tick prevention injections, which we had struggled to find another veterinary clinic in South East Melbourne offering. Dr Daphne and the team took the time to explain everything properly and make sure we understood what was needed to protect them once we move. Paralysis ticks are not just a concern in Queensland and New South Wales, and we were also made aware of the importance of prevention as their range continues to extend further south. It was wonderful to find a practice that offers the long-term tick injection, especially for pups who do not take particularly well to tablets. We also received fantastic advice about the possible risks associated with sporting club activities and the preventative measures we can take to help protect them from injury, as well as thoughtful guidance regarding their individual dietary requirements. We had previously fed our kids full Lyka meals but stopped purely because of the cost. A new understanding of the benefits of their meals helped us make an informed decision to reintroduce Lyka and use a half-Lyka, half-current-food approach so we can manage the cost while still giving them those nutritional and probiotic benefits. Our fur kids were also assessed for their fit-to-fly certificates. This was something we had been quite anxious about, particularly given that one of our kids was born deaf and knowing that the relocation and flights are going to be a stressful few days for them. The information, reassurance and practical advice we received gave us a much better understanding of what we can do before and after their flights to minimise their anxiety and support them through the whole experience. What impressed us most was the genuine care behind everything they did. Nothing felt transactional. They listened, explained, reassured and treated our fur kids as individuals. It is incredibly comforting to meet veterinary professionals who clearly have such beautiful hearts and who genuinely care about both the animals they treat and the people who love them.We are so grateful to Dr Daphne and the entire team and cannot recommend this practice highly enough.

I’m really grateful for the care Joey received from the team. Everyone was so kind, caring, and patient, and they took the time to explain everything clearly and guide me through each step. It made a stressful situation feel so much easier.A … More special mention to Dr Angus he’s an absolute legend. He was professional, caring, and genuinely took the time to make sure Joey was looked after properly and that I understood everything. You can really see how much he cares about the animals he treats.I genuinely felt that Joey was in the best hands, and I couldn’t be happier with the care and service we received. I would wholeheartedly recommend this vet to anyone who wants their pet treated with genuine care, compassion, and respect. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring Joey back here again.
