About Me
I have wanted to become a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. From the age of three, I was taking blood pressure readings on my toys, bandaging their “injuries,” and creating homemade medications for my stuffed animals. Looking back, veterinary medicine was always where I was headed.
My passion for animal welfare was heavily influenced by my family, who have been involved in various animal rescue and welfare organisations over the years. Growing up, I regularly attended school holiday programs at the RSPCA thanks to my mum, which further strengthened my desire to help animals that could not help themselves. Even during middle school, I was dedicated to animal welfare, making more than 100 dog beds for The Lost Dogs Home.
Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to have turned that lifelong passion into a career where I can advocate for animals every day.
My Passion, Purpose & Motivation
One of the most important aspects of veterinary medicine for me is being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. I approach every patient as though they are my own family member and strive to provide the highest level of care while supporting the people who love them.
I am particularly passionate about strengthening the bond between pets and their owners and helping families better understand their animals’ needs. I have special interests in behavioural medicine, small mammal medicine, and wildlife medicine, and I enjoy working collaboratively with owners to improve both the physical and emotional wellbeing of their pets.
Creating positive veterinary experiences is something I value highly, which is why I am passionate about fear-free handling and reducing stress wherever possible during veterinary visits.
My Qualifications & Experience
I completed all of my studies at the University of Melbourne, beginning with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Animal Health and Disease, with a specialisation in Veterinary Biotechnology. I then completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Veterinary Bioscience, where I undertook a research thesis in Veterinary Parasitology, before going on to complete my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
In addition to my veterinary qualifications, I am Fear Free Handling Certified and an Accredited Microchipper.
Before becoming a veterinarian, I spent more than 10 years working as a tennis coach, teaching private lessons, competition training, and cardio tennis classes. This experience helped me develop strong communication and coaching skills that continue to benefit me when working with clients and their pets today.
My Family & Hobbies
At home, I am kept busy by my wonderful collection of pets: Jet, a Cattle Dog x Labrador x Golden Retriever; Yoshi, a cheeky Kelpie; Birdo, a black domestic short hair; and Meowth, a grey and white domestic short hair cat.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my pets, playing tennis, trying new restaurants and foods, and watching a wide variety of movies. Whether I’m outdoors with my dogs, relaxing with my cats, or catching up with family and friends, animals remain at the centre of my life both professionally and personally.
